Overview

The Community Bankers Association of Georgia (CBA) was created in 1969 as a way to pool community bank resources for political representation. Today, the Association has over 300 community bank members who utilize four main areas of service: Education, Networking, Group Purchasing and Political Affairs.

We are committed to enhancing community banking in our state, and our staff is available to assist you in a variety of ways. The Community Bankers Association is the only organization in Georgia that represents the interests of community banks exclusively. Steve Bridges, President and CEO, oversees strategic planning for the association and works closely with members, regulators, and legislators to ensure the Association is meeting the changing needs of its members. Carolyn Brown, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, oversees all Association and staff operations. She will be happy to answer any questions you might have concerning the Association’s four main areas of service: education, networking, political affairs, and products/services.

Chief Financial Officer, Tammy Maass, oversees CBA's technology, operations and accounting areas. Peake Thompson, Assistant Vice President of Operations & Accounting, maintains the Association database of over 300 banks, 200 associate members and 22,500 community bank employees in Georgia, with the help of Part Time Accounting Assistant Matlyn Woodyard. Receptionist and Operations Assistant Teresa Day, handles a variety of operational activities. The Association offers its members several unique networking opportunities throughout the year. Donna Coutant, coordinates special events and membership. She assists in organizing CBA's year-round activities, such as conventions, Fall Group Meetings and the Day at the Capitol.


Each year, CBA provides more than 200 different educational programs consisting of schools, conferences, seminars and telephone/webcasts. These programs for community bankers are tailored specifically for community bankers and include topics for everyone from front-line personnel to the president and the board of directors. Jodi Swilley, Vice President/Educational and Professional Development, oversees all of the educational programs. Two key employees in CBA's Education Department are Karen Wyrosdick, AVP, Education and Jason Sandmann, Education Coordinator, along with Sarah McKinnon, Education Assistant. CBA's Associate Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing, Stacey Foussé, is in the field communicating new products, services, and educational offerings to our member banks. CBA's Marketing & Public Relations Coordinator, Melissa Davis, is responsible for all CBA literature and the newsletter, CBA Today. Jason Pruitt, Vice President of Member Services, is your liaison to quality Endorsed Member Company products and services at discounted prices. In addition, he has access to over 250 Associate Member companies who work closely with our community banks and provide a wide selection of products and services as well. Amanda Hoppers completes the Service Corporation team by assisting with the administration of the Associate Member companies, Georgia Financial Institution Directory, CBA Job Bank and numerous marketing responsibilities as well.
