Today is Wednesday, November 25, 2020 - the day before Thanksgiving and the official start of the Holiday Season. It is the time of year in which we begin to reflect over the past several months and enjoy the company and camaraderie of family and close friends. As we engage with those most close to us, it will be hard not to recount the many challenges that were faced in 2020. Every one of us was impacted- personally, professionally, and economically. Many suffered through the illness and, unfortunately, lost those that were most special to us. As a result, THIS Holiday Season will surely take on an extra special meaning for all Americans and Georgians alike.
As a country, state, and as community bankers, we are not strangers to difficult times. Together, we have endured past pandemics and the hardships they produced. We have endured financial crisis and various monetary and fiscal policy changes; however, we have not only endured but have thrived because we are optimists and innovators. It is who we are as a people- as Americans and Georgians. As we officially move into the Holiday Season, I am comforted to know that together we will forge a path to better times in 2021 and beyond!
On behalf of your team at CBA of Georgia, it is our privilege to serve you. We wish you and yours a happy and healthy Thanksgiving and Holiday Season!

PPP Loan Forgiveness Tops $38B
The Small Business Administration said it has forgiven 367,321 Paycheck Protection Program loans worth $38.4 billion as of noon Sunday. In a new section of its PPP webpage, the agency also said it has received 595,144 loan submissions worth $83.2 billion.
ICBA is calling on community bankers to continue pressuring Congress to include PPP reforms in the next economic stimulus package, such as simplifying forgiveness, addressing the conflict with EIDL advances, and excluding PPP loans from regulatory asset thresholds.

Georgia’s community bankers do great things in their communities every day. Here is the latest on community outreach and news from CBA Members:
- PrimeSouth Bank is impressed with the donations collected in its fourth annual campaign to raise funds to help fight childhood cancer. The Bank teamed up with employees and neighbors to help raise awareness for Childhood Cancer in September. This year, employees chose to sell “Be Bold Go Gold” masks and gold ribbons that displayed a name in honor or in memory of their hero. The bank’s five markets donated the proceeds raised to Campground Ministries, CURE – Team Alexa, Mattie’s Mission, and Wolfson Children’s Hospital Pediatric Cancer Center. Click here to learn more.
- First Port City Bank, Bainbridge recently donated to the United Way of Bainbridge - Decatur County.
- CenterState Bank, Atlanta, sponsored the 15th-Annual Sporting Clays Classic for the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America which raised over $230,000 to benefit metro-Atlanta youth and families.
- Planters Bank of Macon recently volunteered at the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank "STUFF THE TRUCK" event. Team Members pictured: Sheila Lanier, and Jean Allan.
- Exchange Bank, Milledgeville: On November 19, 2020 Exchange Bank held an unveiling of a Stan Strickland portrait of Henry J. Pope, Jr. at the bank’s Main Office. Mr. Pope was President/CEO and was dedicated to the bank, his community, and was first and foremost dedicated to his family. His legacy lives on at Exchange Bank and he is missed greatly.
