Georgia’s community bankers do great things in their communities every day. Here is the latest on community outreach and news from CBA Members:
- Many banks are taking advantage of CBA's Marketing Toolkit for February, "I Love My Community Bank." Banks like First National Bank of Coffee County and Heritage Bank, McDonough, have been sharing reasons to love local community banks. In addition, Planters First Bank, Cordele, has been customizing graphics with their own photos, and First Bank, Dalton, is holding a contest for customers to submit their stories for a chance to win a Visa gift card. Make sure your bank is taking advantage of these graphics, and be sure to reach out to your bank customers on social media so they can share why they love their hometown bank. Check out the marketing toolkit. Be sure to use the hashtag #ILoveMyCommunityBank.
- Team members from Queensborough National Bank & Trust in Statesboro recently volunteered for the First Friday Downtown Puppy Kissing Booth with the Humane Society. In addition, the bank's Sandersville branch recently visited Washington County High School to teach students about financial literacy. Lastly, the bank's Waynesboro branch participated in the Mayor's Betterment Expo.
- First Port City Bank, Bainbridge, recently graduated their 2020 Leadership Class. The bank presented their prestigious Horizon Award to Vivi Schuyler, receiving a special gift from the bank for her extraordinary efforts and growth in her leadership abilities. Each graduate was presented with a graduation certificate and the book Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens.
- Mount Vernon Bank, Vidalia, recently presented a check to Brewton Parker College in honor of the late John Roller who served as Board Member/Emeritus for 29 years. The check was presented to Dr. Echols, President of Brewton Parker College by Don Thigpen, CEO and Alan Thigpen, President.
- Guardian Bank, Valdosta, recently presented a check to The Boys and Girls Club of Valdosta. In addition, the bank held a food & supplies drive for the Alzheimer’s Caregiver Time Out of Valdosta.
- United National Bank, Cairo, recently presented a check to Dana Prince Willis and OBCDanceArts.
- BankSouth, Greensboro, recently sponsored St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital's Heart & Soul Gala.
- Several team members from Bank of Dudley recently volunteered at Promise of Hope's annual Day of Blessings.
- The Bank of Soperton/Million Pines Community Bank, Vidalia, recently visited a third grade class at Sally D. Meadows Elementary School to read to the students.
- Wendi Spinks and Heather Forrester from Legacy State Bank, Athens, recently participated in the Walton Works College & Career Expo to meet local high school students and discuss the banking industry.
- Gary Johnson recently announced his retirement as Market President of Bulloch First, Statesboro (a division of The Citizens Bank of Swainsboro). Gary will continue to serve on the Fiduciary Board of Directors for The Citizens Bank of Swainsboro.
- United Community Bank, Blairsville, was recently recognized as one of America’s best banks by Forbes magazine for the seventh consecutive year. The article “America’s Best Banks 2020” ranked 100 of the largest publicly traded banks and thrifts nationwide. United Community Bank was included in the top 25 on this prestigious list.
