John McNair and the CBA Swaggin’ Wagon have been crisscrossing the state over the past several weeks participating in events to celebrate the service of long-time community bankers and new community bank branch openings. Last week, John and Swags were honored to help recognize Ms. Sandy Cowart of Greater Community Bank, Rome, for her 40 years of dedicated service to the community banking industry in Northwest Georgia. Swags and John were in Carrolton later that same day to help open the new office of American Commerce Bank, Bremen. President/CEO David Tate and the entire team at American Commerce did a great job kicking off their new branch.  Swags commented, “whenever there is an opportunity to recognize our great community bankers, John and I will always be there. Just give me a full tank of gas and we are on our way! ” Both events last week were on St. Patrick’s Day. Feeling the spirit, Swags asked Cassie Cornell to find some appropriate Irish regalia to wear. Finding items in Swags’ size can be hard; however, as usual Cassie got it just right. Contact Lindsay Greene to let us know about your bank’s milestone events.

The McNair Family Scholarship—Designed for Adult Learners Working at a Georgia Community Bank
John and Lisa McNair, together with their family, announced the annual McNair Family Scholarship, honoring Nicholas Cimino, earlier this year.  The scholarship is designed for adult learners working at a Georgia community bank.

The McNair Family Scholarship recognizes and honors the achievements of Nicholas (Nick) R. Cimino. The scholarship will be awarded once per year to an adult learner who is currently employed at a Georgia community bank and plans to work towards an associate, bachelor's, or trade degree.

An adult learner is defined as a student at least two years removed from high school. The student must be working at least 25 hours per week at a Georgia community bank. The $1,000.00 award will be paid directly to the institution of higher learning to offset student expenses.

Click here to learn more about Nick Cimino and his dedication to earning his college degree while working and raising his family. All applications must be received at the CBA office by April 30, 2022. The winner will be announced by the end of May 2022.

Investment You Can Make

Guest Article from CBA Associate AMATAS

With the increase in cybercrime activity, more and more businesses will see themselves faced with the question of how to secure their data and systems. What is the best way to react, and is it possible to prepare, rather than wait for misfortune to strike? Those questions are at the heart of the difference between proactive and reactive cybersecurity. Read entire article.
