Gov. Kemp Issues Two Executive Orders for Remote Notarization & Third Party Plan Reviews and Inspections
Governor Kemp has issued an Executive Order allowing for the remote witnessing and notarization of real estate documents. CBA is one of many organization who urged the Governor to sign the order to benefit communities across the state.

This order, coupled with an order of the Georgia Supreme Court of last week, will now allow for real estate closings to occur by video conference during the current state of emergency. Please continue to consult with your closing attorneys as to the specific requirements and capabilities that they may have in this regard as well as additional guidance that they will no doubt be receiving from their respective title insurance companies.

In addition, Gov. Kemp issued an Executive Order regarding third party plan reviews and inspections. This update allows for previously exempted projects to utilize third party plan reviews and inspections for a time period concurrent with the Governor’s State of Emergency. These newly eligible projects are: hospitals, ambulatory health care centers, nursing homes, jails, penal institutions, airports, buildings or structures that impact national or state homeland security, or any building defined as a high-rise building in the IBC.

Bank Insurance and the Coronavirus
The insurance industry is just as confused as the rest of us as to how to respond to this crisis. Insurance periodicals and websites have been dealing with such questions as: Can a virus (communicable disease) be the direct cause of physical damage to property or bodily injury to others? Are the medical expenses caused by a disease covered by Workers Compensation or just Health insurance? Will the increases in cash kept at bank branch offices and ATMs be covered by the Financial Institution Bond? Learn how these questions pertain to your bank. Read the full article. Guest article from Bronze-Level Preferred Service Provider Bahr Consultants, Inc.
