Several CBA members are featured in the July issue of Georgia Trend magazine. The annual banking article showcased how Georgia’s consumer-facing financial institutions are embracing technology and offering a steady approach to economic challenges to better serve their customers. ICBA Update from Rebeca Romero Rainey
Rebeca Romero Rainey, President & CEO of the Independent Community Bankers of America® (ICBA), will provide a community banking update at CBA’s Annual Convention, September 14—18, 2022, at The Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island, FL. ICBA is the leading advocacy organization exclusively representing community banks. Ms. Romero Rainey is one of the nation’s foremost advocates of the community banking industry, with a focus on regulatory reform for our country’s nearly 5,000 community banks.
A third-generation community banker born and raised in Taos, N.M., Ms. Romero Rainey is the former Chairman and CEO of Centinel Bank of Taos. Upon graduating from Wellesley College, she returned home to Taos with the dream of continuing her family’s business of running the town’s only local community bank. Her broader service to the community banking industry began when she joined the board of the Independent Community Bankers of New Mexico, where she served as president from 2007—08. She entered the national stage by becoming active within ICBA and serving on several committees. Ms. Romero Rainey also played a key role in the formation of ICBA’s Minority Bank Council and served as its first chairman. Later she was nominated to become a member of ICBA’s Executive Committee, and in 2016, became ICBA chairman.
Ms. Romero Rainey has also served on the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Advisory Committee on Community Banking and the Kansas City Federal Reserve Community Depositor Institution Advisory Council. She has been featured on CSPAN, MSNBC, CNBC, and NPR, has testified before Congress, and has delivered speeches before the Federal Reserve, OCC and FDIC.

Titan 100 Feature—John McNair
In May of this year, John McNair, CBA President & CEO, was recognized as a Georgia Titan 100. The Titan 100 program recognizes Georgia’s Top 100 CEOs and C-level executives who are the area’s most accomplished business leaders in their industry. John lives by the motto that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. He has taken several successful steps in the banking industry throughout his career, but the most important step has been recognizing talent in his staff. “There is nothing more important for a leader than being able to recognize talent and deploy it properly, thereby achieving macro business goals and maximizing employee satisfaction,” said John. Bank Director/Newcleus 2022 Compensation Survey Now Available
The 2022 Compensation Survey, conducted by Bank Director and sponsored by Newcleus Compensation Advisors, is now available. The survey gathered data on CEO and director compensation, CEO turnover rates and performance measures, as well as additional talent needs and online recruiting and reputation monitoring.
The study examines wages, compensation management and the special challenges that organizations face when hiring and retaining the valuable employees that make up their key leadership teams as well as their workforce overall. Watch for details on CBA’s Bank Director 2022 program, which will be held on October 5 & 6, 2022 in Macon.
