Georgia’s community bankers do great things in their communities every day. Here are some recent highlights from CBA Members:
- Vinings Bank, Smyrna, and James-Bates-Branan-Groover-LLP, Atlanta, recently hosted a hosted a celebration at the bank to honor of the 100th anniversary of the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance. 175 bankers and associates were in attendance to celebrate the GA DBF's centennial. Read more.
In addition, Joe Daniell, Executive Vice President of the bank, was recognized by CBA for his 50 years of dedicated service to the community banking industry. This prestigious award was presented to him at the celebration by CBA's John McNair and Lori Godfrey. Joe has had a long and distinguished career in banking, and has been recognized by many for his work with the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce and the local community. Read the press release. - Heritage Bank, McDonough, recently sponsored a breakfast with Congressman Jody Hice at the Academy for Advanced Studies in McDonough.
- Greater Community Bank, Calhoun, recently joined the Calhoun-Gordon County Sports Hall of Fame during the ribbon cutting of their new space at the Gordon County Historical Society. Pictured far left is bank COO and Calhoun City President Donna McEntyre.

FDIC Proposes Interest Rate Restrictions for Less Than Well Capitalized Institutions
The FDIC has issued a notice of proposed rulemaking related to interest rate restrictions that apply to less than well capitalized insured depository institutions. Under the proposed rule, the FDIC would amend the methodology for calculating the national rate and national rate cap for specific deposit products to provide a more balanced, reflective, and dynamic national rate cap.
