“The Cyber Risk Summit was a one-of-a-kind event that uniquely provided not only traditional subject matter expertise learning but also opportunities for hands-on learning and discussion. This was a fantastic event regardless of job title or expertise to collaborate on cyber topics among peers, regulators and experts in the field,” said Justin Headley, Warren Averett.

CBA’s adult education practitioner, Kristi Greer added, “We are proud to serve our bankers with effective education that includes opportunities to learn from not only experts in the field but also their fellow bankers.  We created a learning environment that allowed for multiple activities to ensure all attendees gained value to support their ongoing learning of cyber risk.  I left the event even more energized, knowing that the event was successful and beneficial. “

The event’s program participants were asked, “What part of the program was most beneficial to you?” Comments included: “Networking with fellow bankers and vendors. The first deep dive round table was very good! The mixture of knowledge and eye-opening conversations. The deep dives and networking. Hearing about new or “new to me” technologies. Very informative! Interactive activities like the Incident Response tabletop exercise."

CBA would like to take this opportunity to thank our speakers and sponsors of the program!

CBA Town Hall Talk Series Wraps Up
in Watkinsville

After stops in Valdosta, Augusta, and Milledgeville, CBA hosted the fourth and final 2022 Town Hall Talk last week at Oconee State Bank’s community room in Watkinsville. “CBA is very grateful to Reps. Wiedower, Frye, Gaines, Senator Ginn and Commissioner Kevin Hagler for sharing their insight with the group,” stated John McNair, President & CEO of Community Bankers Association of Georgia. “Special thanks to CBA Advocacy Chair Neil Stevens for the exceptional hospitality. I’d also like to thank Lori Godfrey, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff, Government and Regulatory Relations, and Becky Soto, Assistant Vice President, Professional Development, for their efforts in organizing and planning the Town Hall Talks.”

Grassroots advocacy is critical to developing local relationships. The CBA Town Hall Talk Series helps solidify valuable relationships between constituents, legislators, and CBA.

Are You the Next Ultimate Grillmaster?
Tailgating season is here, and what better way to enjoy football season than with a smokin’ hot Recteq wood pellet grill? CBA’s Lori Godfrey and Becky Soto visited the Recteq headquarters in Evans and picked up both the RT-700 and the RT-340.

Each grill comes with two bags of pellets and a grill cover. Enter for a chance to win at CONNECT. Proceeds support CBA’s advocacy efforts. Special thanks to James-Bates-Brannan-Groover LLP for
sponsoring this fundraiser.

Chuck Harwell Memorial Tournament Clay Shoot
October 20, 2022 | Burge Plantation
In 2020, we lost our dear friend and colleague, Charles "Chuck" Harwell.  Chuck was a CBA Board Member who always supported this event, as well as all of our Advocacy events year after year.  Chuck was truly passionate about ensuring community banks had a voice at the Capitol and staying engaged in lobbying for our industry.  Therefore, your CBA family would like to respectfully memorialize Chuck for what he stood for and meant to his family, friends, and the community he impacted.  We are pleased to present the Charles "Chuck" Harwell Memorial Clay Shoot. Deadline to register is October 13th, so register soon!

Compliance Program 3—Fair Lending, UDAAP, and CRA
Tifton: September 20 | Macon: September 21 | *Live Virtual STREAM: September 27 | Statesboro: September 28
A full-day seminar providing a comprehensive review of fair lending laws, rules, regulations and examination procedures. Today's fair lending practices continue to be subject to heightened scrutiny by both federal and state regulators. Non-compliance with fair lending laws can lead to enforcement actions from your regulators, HUD and/or the DOJ. Additionally, violations could have a significant impact to your strategic, financial, operations, legal, compliance and reputational risk.

Join this seminar as we explore the fair lending rules, how to detect potential issues, monitor for exceptions, and prepping for the fair lending exam. We also highlight the key components (and examiner expectations) of what your Fair Lending Program should include.
