Participants in CBA’s Annual Cyber Risk Summit held last week in Savannah heard from experts on wide variety of cyber-related topics ranging from incident response and securing cloud security, to audits and regulator hot topics. Special thanks to presenters, exhibitors, and sponsors. Highlights from the two-day program included:
John McNair, CBA President & CEO, shared, “As an attendee of CBA’s Cyber Security program, my overall knowledge and awareness of the challenges for community banks was greatly increased. The presenters covered many crucial areas and provided resources for attendees to use to help their respective institutions. As the President and CEO of the CBA, I felt it was important for me to attend as a student to develop a greater understanding of the needs of CBA’s member banks. A major takeaway for me came from Dave Moorman, President of CBA partner Novatech. Dave commented that Bank of America spends roughly 1.5% of gross revenues on Cyber Security. I believe this is an important statistic for community bankers to consider moving forward. Great job by Kristi Greer in developing the program and Becky Soto for her help in facilitating!”

Sympathy
It is with heavy hearts the Bank of Newington announces Mrs. Mary Wilma Wells passed away on August 22, 2021, at the age of 97. Mrs. Wells was a Vice President and Board Director at the Bank of Newington for 57 years; her life was marked by her dedication to the bank. She was not only the matriarch of her family, but a matriarch of the bank family as well. Always an advocate of this hundred-year-old family business, she embodied being a true community banker and southern lady. The funeral for Mrs. Wells will be held at North Newington Baptist Church on August 25th at 11:00 am. CBA extends our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and coworkers.
