The long-awaited Annual Convention, Director's College and Mini-Trade Show is here! CBA conventions are known for finding the right mix of high-quality professional development programming with a fun, safe and comfortable environment.

This year, perhaps more than ever before, we believe it is important to come together as Georgia’s community bankers and share our knowledge, experiences and friendship with each other. The agenda offers something for everyone – motivational keynote speakers, a Director’s College, networking at the Thursday night fundraising party, learning about new products and services at the popular Mini-Trade Show, conversation with the regulators, numerous break-out sessions, silent auction, economic update, dawn breaker’s session and of course, the Chairman’s Dinner and Banking on the Future Celebration. CBA members are taking advantage of the option to register in-person or virtually. Thank you to our sponsors for your continued support.

Click here for all of the details on CBA’s Annual Convention, September 24 – 27, 2020 at the Hilton Sandestin including agenda, safety measures, sponsors, exhibitors, hotel information and more.

Embracing FinTech - A Must for Georgia's Community Bankers
Community banks have been built on providing outstanding customer service and bankers knowing their customers.  Georgia’s community banks are known for having a competitive edge by combining technology with personal service to offer a remarkable customer experience while meeting the evolving needs of their customers.  In this issue of Georgia Communities First, CBA invited several members of the ATDC Fintech Committee to share their experiences and most importantly, their advice for getting started. As you will read, each bank has different goals and objectives and our member banks have a wealth of knowledge to share. Thank you to the numerous contributors to this issue. Read the article.

Last week’s announcement of CBA Wellness Solutions has been well received. The focus of CBA Wellness Solutions is to provide our members and partner firms with a variety of programs and resources to help achieve greater balance of the mind, body and spirit.

PHASE 1 of CBA Wellness Solutions- CBA Health Care Insurance:
Based on rising health insurance costs and changing employee needs, CBA members and partner firms have told us they would like to have an association health insurance offering that provides both premium stability and program customization. After many months of review and study with multiple community banks, CBA’s Member Services Committee and Board of Directors, CBA is excited to announce the formation of CBA Health Care Insurance.

CBA has joined forces  with CS&O Captives (www.csocaptives.com) to provide a protective funding layer for premium stability and CBIZ (www.cbiz.com) to help our members and partner firms create plans that are best suited for the needs of their employees and families. This modern and innovative program has been designed to help manage costs while allowing employers to offer the types of programs and services their employees want and desire such as HSAs and similar. CBA’s captive cell also provides for the opportunity to generate annual dividend distributions for participating banks and firms. In order to participate, community banks and partner firms must be members in good standing and other restrictions, requirements apply. Please contact John McNair, CBA President & CEO with any questions.

Highlights from Community Bank Leadership Academy
In the third session of the Community Bank Leadership Academy, April Farlow, professional speaker, gave our bankers public speaking coaching.  “What an excellent session to see everyone fully engaged, practicing their communication skills, listening and learning how to tweak their professional speaking skills for ongoing career success,” said CBA Professional Development Director, Kristi Greer.

Quotes from attendees:  Joe Godfrey, VP Commercial Lending at Oconee State Bank, Watkinsville, said, “I have to say that this session was the best I’ve attended.  April utilized her experiences to teach how to become better speakers and communicators.  We as a group did not want the session to end for we immediately saw the value and how these tools would expand our tool belts to enhance our careers.  A big thanks to April, it was awesome!!”   Christine Swanson, Controller, American Commerce Bank, Bremen, agreed with Joe and added, “we took home many actionable steps to improve.”

Learn more about Community Bank Leadership Academy.  Registrations for the 2021 program will open soon.
