Last week’s Charlie Curry Memorial Clay Shoot at Wynfield Plantation in Albany was a day for bankers, associate member companies, and members of the Curry family to come together to honor a legendary community banker and raise funds for CBA’s PAC Fund. Scott Curry, President & CEO, First State Bank of Randolph County, Cuthbert, spoke to the group at lunch and noted the importance of community bankers having a voice with legislators. Participants enjoyed a day of great weather, friendly competition, and fellowship.

Fun & Creative Ways to Support CBA’s Advocacy Efforts at CONNECT
Special thanks to everyone who supported CBA’s advocacy efforts at the convention. Volunteers from the LEAD Board raised funds with the Wine Pull and at the Putt for PAC on Thursday night. Sydney Pope, daughter of Jonathan Pope, Exchange Bank, Milledgeville, rounded up participants in the putting contest throughout the evening.

Again, this year, the Silent Auction offered a wide variety of trips, wine, sporting events and much more. New this year was the drawing for two Recteq grills, sponsored by James-Bates-Brannan-Groover. Tasha Deese, American Commerce Bank, won the tailgate grill and Ron Quinn, Peach State Bank & Trust, won the larger grill. Congratulations to all winners and thanks to everyone who helped raise funds for CBA’s lobbying efforts on behalf our Georgia’s community banking industry.

ICBA updated its Hurricane Preparedness resource center with the latest on Hurricane Ian. With Ian on pace to make landfall with the west coast of Florida, the ICBA webpage offers community bankers tools to help weather the storm. The resource page includes information, state and national resources, critical infrastructure tools, and more.

Farmers & Merchants Bank Celebrates 100 Years
Earlier this month, Farmers & Merchants Bank celebrated the bank’s 100th Anniversary by hosting a Business After Hours in conjunction with the Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce. The bank received its charter in October 1022. Thanks to Brian Bazemore for sharing pictures from the celebration.

FHLBank Atlanta Announces Availability of $5 Million
in Additional Homeownership Set-aside Funds
Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta (FHLBank Atlanta) announced it is making an additional $5 million in funding available in 2022 to its members through its AHP Homeownership Set-aside Program. Eligible borrowers can apply for up to $10,000 to help them purchase or rehabilitate a home. Read more.
