Building an Effective Fair Lending Program

Examiner expectations for a solid fair lending program have grown exponentially in recent years.  Community banks used to be able to get by with some basic policies and procedures, and tracking of exceptions, but that is no longer the case.  In this workshop, we will discuss what examiners expect from a fair lending program by exploring foundational aspects, as well as, how to incorporate current trends in the examination and enforcement environment into your fair lending program.

INSTRUCTOR:

Kathy Enbom, Partner, CRCM
WIPFLI

We’ll provide guidance on -

  • how to conduct a fair lending risk assessment,
  • techniques for monitoring loan data for risk indicators, and
  • methodologies for conducting analysis of your loan data in house without using high powered specialized software.

This includes approaches you can use for underwriting and pricing analyses as well as comparative file reviews.  You’ll be able to take these tools and approaches back to your bank and begin using them immediately to strengthen your fair lending program by better managing your risks.
