Department of Banking & Finance Adopts Final Rules

The Georgia Department of Banking & Finance adopted Final Rules on June 18, 2025.  The Rules were filed with the Secretary of State on June 18, 2025, and, pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 50-13-6, will be effective on July 7, 2025, which is twenty (20) days following the filing of the Rules with the Secretary of State.

Prior to adopting the Rules, the proposed Rules along with a synopsis were distributed on May 15, 2025. The Department received four written comments regarding the proposed Rules, fully considered the comments letter it received and made substantive revisions to Rule 80-1-14-.02, Rule 80-2-6-.05, and Rule 80-3-1-.06. The Department believes that the Rules as adopted encourage safety and soundness, encourage safe and fair mortgage lending, and conform to the law.
