Highlights from CONNECT 2025 – Celebrating Connections that Matter

Community Bankers Association of Georgia (CBA) hosted its highly anticipated CONNECT 2025 Annual Convention September 10–14 at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. This year’s convention delivered a dynamic mix of education, advocacy, innovation, and tradition—providing community bankers and partners with an unforgettable experience.

The convention opened with inspiration, featuring keynote speaker Billy Boughey, along with Shawn O’Brien and Dawn Gehring, who energized the audience and set the stage for meaningful dialogue. A special sponsor reception on Wednesday honored the companies that make CONNECT special, highlighting the strong partnerships that fuel Georgia’s community banking industry.

Advocacy took center stage on Friday, underscoring CBA’s mission to represent the voice of community banks. Attendees gained valuable insights from regulators, state legislators, and political strategists Brian Robinson and Tharon Johnson, while also engaging in critical conversations on policy and industry challenges.

The trade show floor was a hub of activity throughout the convention, where bankers explored innovative solutions from dozens of exhibitors. Networking was at the heart of CONNECT, with countless opportunities to build relationships, exchange ideas, and strengthen partnerships—whether during exhibit breaks, the Friday night Advocacy event,  or casual conversations throughout the event.

Saturday wrapped the event with inspiration and tradition. Bankers heard the latest updates from ICBA, explored how AI is shaping the future of banking, and enjoyed a powerful closing keynote from Don Yaeger on “What Makes the Great Ones Great.” The installation of CBA’s new officers was a highlight, carrying forward the association’s legacy of leadership.

To cap off the week, attendees came together for the UGA vs. Tennessee Tailgate Party—complete with food, fellowship, and football. It was the perfect close to an energizing and impactful convention.
