Investing in the Next Generation of Community Bankers

CBA Today eNewsletter,

On Wednesday, September 9th, CBA participated in a College Career Fair at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, providing an opportunity to connect with students and share the many rewarding career paths available in community banking.

Throughout the event, CBA President John McNair and CBA Lead Board Members met with students from a variety of academic backgrounds, discussing opportunities in lending, retail banking, finance, operations, technology, marketing, and leadership development. These conversations helped showcase the vital role community banks play in supporting local businesses, families, and communities.

Many thanks to Michelle Dixon/Century Bank & Trust, Jay Funderburke/South Georgia Banking Company, and Linda Smith/Embassy National Bank who volunteered their time to represent our industry and help strengthen the pipeline of future banking professionals.

“I can confidently say that if any member is looking for talent, the future of Community banking is alive, well, and apparently already polishing résumés. The turnout was fantastic, and it was great to see so many young people excited about getting started in the industry.”  Jay Funderburke

Career fairs are an important part of our talent development efforts, allowing us to introduce students to the community banking industry and encourage them to consider a future with a Georgia community bank. CBA is also attending the College Career Fair at Georgia Southern University on Wednesday, September 16.

Please reach out to John McNair if you’d like to connect with the promising students who shared their resumes.
