Tracy Strozier 2024 Leadership Academy Scholarship Winner Announced

CBA Today eNewsletter,

Last week, John McNair, President & CEO, Community Bankers Association of Georgia, had the distinct pleasure of attending the BankSouth Christmas party in Greensboro. On behalf of CBA of Georgia and BankSouth, he had the honor of presenting a scholarship in honor of Mr. Tracy Strozier to Ms. Renee McCullar for the 2024 CBA Leadership Academy.

For many years, BankSouth has sponsored select BankSouth employees to further their professional development by attending the CBA Leadership Academy.   The 2023 class included April Clemons-White, Crystal Miller, Angel Robbins and Tracy Strozier.

Sadly, Tracy passed away this summer.  He was a dedicated community banker and CBA and BankSouth felt this was an excellent way to honor his memory. Additionally, Ms. Abigail Benkoski, Ms. Amy Everett, and Ms. Jessy Piscitelli were recognized and will, along with Renee, attend the 2024 CBA Leadership Academy.

“As we continue to support the community banking industry, the Community Bankers Association believes in improving the skills of the bankers to allow employees to flourish while serving their communities,” stated Mr. McNair. “The leadership academy was established to support skill growth as well as encourage leadership development in all areas of a financial institution.  When we heard of Tracy’s passing, and how much this program is inspiring the future leaders, the association thought it was a great time to give back to not only BankSouth for their ongoing support of education but also open opportunities for more bankers to gain valuable training that will impact our industry.    We hope that by honoring Tracy’s life as a leader in the industry and awarding a scholarship in his honor, more community bankers will be inspired to serve at high calibers because they value leadership, family and communities.

For the 2024 CBLA class, we chose the first scholarship to be awarded to a BankSouth employee and we will open the scholarship to all Georgia community bankers for the 2025 leadership academy using the same criteria.

CBA is so pleased to preserve Tracy’s memory in this way and we look forward to inviting the community bankers to apply for this opportunity next year”
