BSA Officer - Legacy State Bank
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Administer and oversee the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Counter the Financing of Terrorism Act (CFT) Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and OFAC compliance programs.
• Monitor transactions for suspicious or unusual activity using automated monitoring systems, Verafin and manual reviews.
• Investigate alerts and determine whether suspicious activity warrants the filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
• Prepare, review, and submit SARs, Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), and other required regulatory filings within established deadlines.
• Maintain and update the bank's BSA/AML/CFT policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
• Conduct periodic BSA/AML/CFT risk assessments and recommend enhancements to internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with FinCEN, FDIC, Federal Reserve and applicable state regulatory requirements.
• Perform customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence reviews for high-risk customer and/or cash-intensive businesses.
• Review OFAC alerts and sanctions screening results and resolve potential matches.
• Coordinate independent BSA audits and regulatory examinations.
• Respond to requests from law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
• Develop and deliver BSA/AML/CFT compliance training for employees and the Board of Directors
• Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary updates to policies and procedures.
• Prepare reports for executive management and the Board of Directors regarding BSA compliance activities.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation supporting investigations and regulatory filings.
• Collaborate with internal audit, compliance, operations, and business units to strengthen the bank's compliance program.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
• 2-4+ years of experience in BSA/AML compliance, financial crimes, fraud investigations, or banking compliance.
• Strong knowledge of: Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Counter the Financing of Terrorism Act (CFT), USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, OFAC requirements, FinCEN guidance, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), and Beneficial Ownership requirements
• Experience preparing SARs and CTRs.
• Familiarity with transaction monitoring and case management software.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. Preferred Skills
• Experience with BSA monitoring systems such as Verafin
• Experience working with bank regulatory examinations.
• Strong leadership and project management abilities.
