FDIC Publishes 2026 Risk Review

CBA Today eNewsletter,

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) published its latest Risk Review, an annual publication that summarizes economic and market conditions affecting the banking industry. The report provides an overview of funding, interest rates, and credit risks, including trends in commercial real estate (CRE), nondepository financial institution lending, business lending, consumer lending, residential real estate, and agriculture.

This year’s Risk Review highlights several key trends of the banking industry in 2025, including generally steady performance, strong net income, and higher loan growth. Net interest margins improved modestly as funding costs declined, and unrealized securities losses declined. Credit risks were generally contained in 2025, with continued weakness in certain CRE and consumer loan types.
