Grassroots Advocacy in Action at the Capitol

CBA Today eNewsletter,

Grassroots advocacy remains one of the most important parts of the legislative process. When legislation is introduced that directly affects your bank, your customers, and your community, it’s essential that lawmakers hear directly from those impacted — and understand the “why” behind the issues.

Last week, CBA board member, Frank Griffin, President of Flint Community Bank, Albany, was at the Capitol meeting with legislators to discuss the bank tax credit and interchange bills and attending a meeting of the Senate Banking and Financial Institutions Committee. Lori Godfrey, COO and Chief Lobbyist for CBA of Georgia, was also at the Capitol and had the opportunity to watch Frank in action as he represented community banking.

“Grassroots advocacy is such a critical piece of the legislative process,” explained Lori. “When a bill is introduced that directly impacts your bank or business, lawmakers need to hear from you, so they truly understand the ‘why’ behind the issue.”

CBA of Georgia is grateful for members like Frank who take the time to engage in the legislative process and advocate for community banks and the communities they serve.
