“On behalf of the Community Bankers Association of Georgia and the Independent Community Bankers of America, we are very pleased to bring you this story of Moultrie Bank and Trust. It's a wonderful story of a group of local people that came together to start a local bank in their marketplace,” stated John McNair, President & CEO, Community Bankers Association of Georgia.

Donna Lott, President & CEO, Moultrie Bank & Trust, along with board members Joe Baker and Trent Davis, recently sat down with CBA at their new permanent location on Veterans Parkway North in Moultrie, to share how the bank began and the positive impact the bank is having on the rural community it serves.

“The folks at Moultrie Bank & Trust are to be celebrated for making the personal and financial investment to make it happen. What makes this situation even more special is how the entire community embraced the effort. Along with the founders, the bank has 486 total shareholders- the vast majority being small dollar investors,” continued McNair. “This is a wonderful American success story and proves that starting a new community bank outside a major metropolitan market CAN be done in a post Dodd/Frank era. I hope this story will serve as motivation for other civic minded people across Georgia and the country to do similar.”
