Oconee State Bank Fraud Initiatives Continue to Grow

CBA Today eNewsletter,

March is Fraud Prevention Month, and Oconee State Bank’s Fraud Squad has been leading initiatives to raise awareness and strengthen protection for customers and the broader community.

Oconee State Bank was recently awarded the AARP BankSafe Seal. To earn this designation, frontline team members and the Fraud Squad completed Elder Financial Exploitation prevention training through the AARP BankSafe program. While the program requires at least 80% participation with passing scores, Oconee State Bank achieved 100% participation with successful completion across the team.

Additionally, the Oconee State Bank Fraud Squad hosted its second quarterly Fraud Roundtable for local community banks on March 17. Two additional banks joined the conversation this quarter, with plans to continue expanding participation. The roundtable focused on emerging fraud trends impacting the region, collaborative prevention strategies, and opportunities to enhance community education efforts.

Check out CBA’s Fraud Prevention & Detection Academy, a program designed to give bankers a comprehensive, practical understanding of today’s rapidly evolving fraud landscape. The next session is May 5th.
