Why Showing Up Matters: Advocacy in Action Featured in the Latest Georgia Communities First Magazine

The Spring issue of Georgia Communities First magazine is now available, featuring “Why Showing Up Matters: Advocacy Beyond the Desk.” In this Advocacy feature, Lori Godfrey, COO, Government & Regulatory Relations at CBA, reflects on her experiences at the ICBA Capital Summit, where community bankers from across the country travel to Washington, D.C., to share firsthand insights with lawmakers about the vital role community banks play in supporting local economies. Through personal reflections and perspectives from Georgia bankers, the article highlights why stepping away from the desk to engage directly with policymakers remains one of the most powerful ways to shape policy and strengthen the future of community banking.
The 2026 ICBA Capital Summit will take place May 4–7 in Washington, D.C., and CBA encourages bankers to strongly consider joining the delegation this year.
